In fact, 59 percent of students achieved 1.5 or more years’ growth in reading, and 58 percent of students achieved 1.5 or more years of growth in math after our first year. Also, our Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) scores for 2013 showed steady progress, with 12.1 percent of students who were not proficient in reading the previous year achieving the state standard. Overall, 38.2 percent of our students made progress toward or beyond grade-appropriate proficiency in reading, and 21.4 percent improved in math."
