The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, one of the largest private charitable foundations in the United States, provides approximately $100 million in annual grants to nonprofits that provide direct services to low-income and vulnerable individuals and families, primarily in the US and Israel. Grants are focused on meeting basic needs and enhancing an individual`s ability to meet those needs with emphasis on older adults, the Jewish community, and our hometown communities of Maryland, Northeastern Pennsylvania, and Hawaii. Creative Visions Foundation uses the power of media to inform, inspire and empower. CVF supports "Creative Activists", people who use media and the arts to inform others about critical social, economic and humanitarian issues and inspire their audience to create positive change in the world. We do this by providing grants, fiscal sponsorship and mentorship programs. CVF Creative Activists are distinct in that they do not simply use their creative skills to identify a problem, but they identify possible solutions and inspire those that view or interact with their projects to action through a set of clear actionable steps that can be taken by individuals and organizations to address the issue at hand. In addition, Creative Visions Foundation has a production division run by Jacoba Atlas, former Senior VP of Programming at PBS, which produces documentaries, films and television series focused on informing people about relevant issues impacting the world today. Creative Visions Foundation was inspired by the life of Dan Eldon - artist, adventurer and activist - who was killed in 1993 while on assignment for Reuters News Agency in Somalia. Founded in 1987 as an anti-drug advertising campaign and formerly known as the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing substance abuse among adolescents by supporting families and engaging with teens. Partnership for Drug-Free Kids translates the science of teen drug use and addiction for families, providing parents with direct support to prevent and cope with teen drug and alcohol abuse. On our website, drugfree.org, families can find the information they need to understand the ever-changing drug landscape, which now includes abuse of prescription drugs and over-the-counter cough medicine. In response, we created an expansive national action campaign, The Medicine Abuse Project, to rally parents, educators, health care providers, communities and law enforcement to collectively help end this epidemic and prevent half a million teens from abusing prescription drugs and over-the-counter cough medicine. In addition to our support and resources for parents, we reach youth directly through teen-targeted efforts that inspire young people to make positive decisions to stay healthy and avoid drugs and alcohol. Through our public education initiatives, our public service announcements make up the largest single-issue public service campaign in advertising history. Finally, we build healthy communities, advocating for greater access to adolescent treatment and recovery support, as well as funding of youth prevention programs.
