Foundation HealthCare

Foundation HealthCare is a physician-centric development and management company of ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals. Founded by Thomas A. Michaud in 1996, Foundation Healthcare has two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Foundation Surgery Affiliates, LLC and Foundation Surgical Hospital Affiliates, LLC. Foundation Surgery Affiliates (FSA) is an industry-leading ambulatory surgery center (ASC) management and development company focused on partnering with physicians and employees to create an outstanding patient experience while maximizing partner and shareholder value. We partner with physicians through investment in a minority ownership position, usually 10-40 percent, based on physician needs. We will manage the ASC for, and with, physicians. FSA will also work with physicians in a joint-venture relationship with local hospitals or health systems, if such a relationship is in the best interest of the physicians and ASC. FSA believes physician partners are the lifeline of any ASC and they should retain control of the facility — we focus on adding value by managing the business with physician partners while allowing the partners to focus on patient care. Foundation Surgical Hospital Affiliates (FSHA) was formed in 2008 from the success of the FSA. FSHA is healthcare management and development company that partners with physicians to develop and operate surgical hospitals. We specialize in ASC to surgical hospital conversions; surgical hospital acquisition opportunities; and new surgical hospital projects. We also focus on the development and inclusion of ancillary service lines, including hyperbarics, sleep labs, intraoperative monitoring and robotic surgery. FSHA assists facilities in reaching their clinical goals, improving patient satisfaction and monitoring financial performance — resulting in a fair return for the surgeon and hospital partners.

Warm Springs Medical Center

Founded in 1957 as Meriwether Memorial Hospital, the original 38-bed facility provided health care services to families in Meriwether County. In 1996, Georgia Baptist leased the facility from Meriwether County with the goal of improving health care in rural communities. Georgia Baptist began an aggressive campaign to improve the facility. Over 12 million dollars were invested into the facility to add new radiology suites, a mammography suite, CT scanner, Emergency Department, MRI service, laboratory, lobby, chapel, operating room, labor and delivery suites, endoscopy suite, and DEXA scanner. Completed in 2001, these improvements have made Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital and Nursing Home one of the finest community health care facilities in the state. On July 19, 2004 Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital changed its name to Warm Springs Medical Center, and was managed by Quorum Health Resources, LLC. On July 19, 2007 Warm Springs Medical Center opted out of the management contract with Quorum Health Resources, and once again became a self-sufficient, Hospital Authority managed facility. In November of 2007, Warm Springs Medical Center joined forces with Georgia Rehabilitation Center in Newnan, GA to establish the Georgia Rehabilitation and Imaging of Warm Springs Medical Center, located at the Summit Healthplex on Bullsboro Drive in Newnan, GA. Warm Spring Medical Center’s good neighbor involvement also helped improve the quality of life for area residents. The hospital is a member of the Meriwether County Interagency Council/Family Connection, which fosters collaboration between community groups and helps prevent duplication of services. As a member of the council, the hospital participated in many joint projects and grant requests to bring useful resources into the community. One former program, in partnership with the March of Dimes, provided a perinatal van to transport pregnant women and mothers with newborn infants. Another former program was the hospital’s alliance with the county school system to provide a school nurse, healthcare education and services to children in the community. Playground equipment was provided by the hospital to encourage safe play environments. Warm Springs Medical Center is not just a hospital--It’s part of the community.
