The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) was established to consolidate and better integrate the delivery of human services by state government. FSSA is dedicated to helping Hoosiers live productive, safe and healthy lives.
The Office of the Secretary of State existed even before Alabama became a state. The first secretary of state, Henry Hitchcock (1818-19) served for the Alabama Territory. The secretary of state served a two-year term from the time Alabama became a state in 1819 until the Constitution of 1901 set the term at four years. Up until 1868, the secretary of state was elected by the legislature, but since that time has been selected by popular vote.

The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) maintains and administers facilities for the custody and control of persons committed to the department and supervises persons on parole.
Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) was created to administer long-term services and supports for people who are aging as well as for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. DADS also licenses and regulates providers of these services, and administers the state's Guardianship program. DADS began formal operations on Sept. 1, 2004.
