On January 1, 2004 Easter Seals UCP North Carolina was established as a result of a merger between Easter Seals North Carolina and UCP of North Carolina. Easter Seals UCP’s mission is to create opportunities, promote individual choice and change the lives of children and adults with disabilities by maximizing their individual potential for living, learning and working in their communities. As statewide nonprofit, Easter Seals UCP serves a broad range of people with disabilities, such as people with cerebral palsy, autism, spina bifida, mental retardation, muscular dystrophy, stroke, spinal cord injuries, head injuries, hearing and visual impairments, and mental health diagnoses. Easter Seals UCP’s array of services includes child development centers, therapy, community inclusion services, residential living, supported employment, in-home and community-based supports, respite care, disability benefits counseling, information and referral, and advocacy. Easter Seals UCP has accreditations from the Council on Quality and Leadership and CARF, two bodies which promote the creation of opportunities for people to lead the lives they choose and to improve the quality of services and supports for people with disabilities.
