Established in 1758, Halifax County is in northeastern/north-central North Carolina approximately eight miles from the Virginia border. Located in the Roanoke River and Tar-Pamlico River basins, it is one of the largest geopraphical counties in North Carolina, encompassing an area of approximately 722 square miles with a population of about 55,000 residents. Sherborn is a small semi-rual community located about 18 miles southwest of Boston. Settled in 1652 and incorporated in 1674, the town is proud of its rural heritage.
