The Town of Littleton was founded in 1714 and is governed by an Open Town Meeting / Board of Selectmen / Town Administrator form of government. The Town provides general governmental services for the territory within its boundaries, including police and fire protection, solid waste transfer station, a library, street maintenance, and parks and recreational facilities. Water and electric services are supplied by the Town of Littleton Electric Light and Water Departments. Public education in grades K-12 is provided by the Littleton School Department at two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school.

Under the leadership of Sheriff Scott Israel, the Broward Sheriff`s Office (BSO) has roughly 5,500 employees, including more than 2,800 certified deputies and more 600 fire rescue professionals. BSO is the largest full-service, fully accredited public safety agency in the United States. BSO provides full-time law enforcement services in 14 Broward County cities and towns, and in all of Broward`s unincorporated areas, serving more than one-third of the county. In addition, BSO protects the Broward County Courthouse, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades, areas of the Everglades, and the county`s waterways. The Department of Law Enforcement, in addition to road patrol and other customary operations, administers special units including the Bomb Squad, the K-9 (canine) Unit, Crime Lab, VIPER Unit (targeting violent felons), School Resource Deputy Unit, and the Child Protective Investigations Section (CPIS). BSO`s Department of Detention and Community Programs administers the county`s five jails and its offender programs including Drug Court and County Probation. BSO also manages Broward County`s consolidated regional E911 emergency system for call intake and dispatch services for nearly all of Broward`s residents. The Department of Fire Rescue & Emergency Services provides fire suppression, fire protection, emergency medical services and educational programs for most unincorporated areas of Broward County and to several contracted municipalities in Broward County.

In 2005, the Office of Systems Integration (OSI) was established to manage a portfolio of large, complex health and human services information technology projects. The OSI provides project management, oversight, procurement and support services for a multi-billion dollar portfolio of high criticality projects. In this capacity, OSI coordinates communication, collaboration and decision making among project stakeholders and program-side sponsors of the projects. OSI manages the procurement, contract negotiations and contract management aspects of the acquisition of technology systems and services. After the procurement phase, OSI oversees the design, development, governance and implementation of IT systems which serve health and human services programs. Since its inception, OSI has developed a track record of successfully managing and deploying large, complex, mission critical systems to support health and human services programs at the state, federal and local level.
