More than 1,100 employees work each day to bring this quality of service to Asheville residents. The City operates under a council/manager form of government. The Asheville City Council sets policies and enacts ordinances, which are then carried out under the city manager`s direction. The city council is comprised of an elected Mayor and six council members. The city council is committed to effec¬tive strategic planning with clearly identified yearly and quarterly goals.
