Job Description Please note as of March 1st, 2015 CDM Smith will be relocating it s headquarters to 75 State Street, Boston, MA.
Primary Purpose: The CHRO plays a highly visible and strategic role at CDM Smith and will have a direct impact on the growth of the company. The selected individual will provide strategic and tactical direction that fits CDM Smith s short and long term business objectives. Play a lead role in identifying and bringing to fruition sound global HR programs that will be value added to CDM Smith. In partnership with the business units, provide leadership in workforce strategy, talent management, total rewards, operational and technical HR services and business HR. Personally assure appropriateness of value and quality for all services. Take a leadership role in mentoring and developing key HR staff on the corporate and business unit teams.
What skills do you need to be successful? Outstanding relationship building, customer service, collaboration, communication, organizational, and decision‐making skills. Ability to rapidly understand the overall strategy of CDM Smith and apply best practices and appropriate HR technology to differentiate CDM Smith in the marketplace and as an employer of choice. Proven success in managing large scale HR programs in a global environment. Strong problem solving skills and excellent business acumen/business expertise.
Responsibilities:
• Reporting to the CEO, this is a senior officer role and involved with various leadership activities at CDM Smith. This includes involvement in overall corporate strategy, policy formulation, workforce planning, and community involvement.
• Work closely with senior business executives to align the organizations talent and business strategies with HR s strategy and vision.
• Select and develop a competent, well-motivated and effectively utilized HR Team worldwide.
• Define operational metrics and evaluate the performance of leadership and programs related to various HR disciplines (compensation, benefits, recruitment, training and development, etc.).
• Direct the development, planning, implementation and delivery of various talent programs such as; succession planning at the senior most levels, identifying top performers and plans for development, assessing technical bench strength and plans for enhancements.
• Ensure that HR technology is in place to meet current and prospective business objectives. Ensure that current and future HR technology investments are aligned with company objectives. Stay current with emerging HR technologies and integrate as appropriate to deliver efficiencies to staff and managers.
• Guarantee that relationships with key HR suppliers, vendors, and consultants are maintained and negotiated in CDM Smith s best interest. Reevaluate these relationships frequently in order to maximize value to the Company
• Provide insight into changing laws and regulations ensuring CDM Smith is compliant and has programs in place to support these requirements.
• Create a global platform for all HR programs, driving consistency as much as possible
Minimum Qualifications • The CHRO combines good managerial techniques with business competence, and the ability coach and advise senior most leadership. Qualifications include the following:
• Master s degree in equivalent field or MBA.
• 10 plus years managing a global HR team
• A strong business acumen and experience aligning HR best practice with business needs in a proactive, strategic manner. Solid general business knowledge and experience.
• Provide a measurable vision of HR that supports enterprise objectives.
• Experience leading and creating large scale HR programs
• Experience overseeing HR systems and related technologies. Oracle Fusion experience highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to ensure appropriate HR infrastructure and resources to support global operations.
• Be innovative with a strategic and tactical orientation, strong planning skills and attention to detail.
• Previous success in change management by establishing relationships of trust and credibility with key players.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written; the ability to grasp and communicate the big picture while remaining conversant with details.
• Excellent negotiation skills with internal customers and external service providers.
• A current understanding of the various HR management disciplines and the ability to keep up with best practices and provide leadership in applying it strategically to business.
• Proven project management experience with the ability to influence direction of key initiatives and work with the corporate and business unit teams to deliver on these efforts.
• This position requires occasional travel within the US and/or to international locations.
