Founded in 1919 as the Springfield Division of Northeastern College, became Western New England College in 1951 and Western New England University on July 1, 2011. The present campus on Wilbraham Road was purchased in 1956 with the first building, today`s Emerson Hall, opening in 1959.
Today, American National University has developed into a master`s-level career college offering more than 45 academic programs through 31 community-based campuses in six states. A burgeoning online program serves a growing number of students, while thousands of international students have turned to National for both academic degree programs and English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction.
