The New York Botanical Garden is an iconic living museum and, since its founding in 1891, has served as an oasis in this busy metropolis. As a National Historic Landmark, this 250-acre site`s verdant landscape supports over one million living plants in extensive collections. Each year more than one million visitors enjoy the Garden not only for its remarkable diversity of tropical, temperate, and desert flora, but also for programming that ranges from renowned exhibitions in the Haupt Conservatory to festivals on Daffodil Hill. The Garden is also a major educational institution. More than 300,000 people annually—among them Bronx families, school children, and teachers—learn about plant science, ecology, and healthful eating through NYBG`s hands-on,curriculum-based programming. Nearly 90,000 of those visitors are children from underserved neighboring communities, while more than 3,000 are teachers from New York City`s public school system participating in professional development programs that train them to teach science courses at all grade levels. NYBG operates one of the world`s largest plant research and conservation programs, with nearly 200 staff members—including 80 Ph.D. scientists—working in the Garden`s state-of-the-art molecular labs as well as in the field, where they lead programs in 49 countries.

Founded in 2002, the Young Women`s Preparatory Network is a nonprofit agency that partners with public school districts across the state of Texas to operate the largest network of all-girls, public, college preparatory schools in the nation. Our schools are located in struggling urban neighborhoods and have proven to be very successful. The schools have won multiple academic achievement awards, including being recognized amongst the top public schools in Texas and the nation. YWPN formed the first public/private partnership with the Dallas Independent School District in August 2004, opening the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women`s Leadership School, the first all-girls` public school in Texas. Since then, YWPN has opened schools in Austin, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Houston, Lubbock and San Antonio, serving more than 4,200 young women. Ysleta ISD in El Paso will open in 2016. Because of the success of the first school in Dallas, this school model is being replicated throughout the state, as a catalyst for positive educational change.
Adelphoi is a system of five not-for-profit agencies that includes Adelphoi Village, Adelphoi Ketterer Charter School, Homes Build Hope, Adelphoi Education and Adelphoi Foundation. Adelphoi Village provides care and treatment to over 2,500 at-risk youth and families each year. Adelphoi Ketterer Charter School provides education to Adelphoi Village youth, along with students of local school districts. Homes Build Hope offers affordable housing to individuals and families in need. Adelphoi Education provides education services to youth who are struggling in the traditional classroom setting. Adelphoi Foundation serves as the conduit for all philanthropic support and manages a systematic program of donor stewardship. Together, these organizations form a wide continuum of services for those most in need in the community.
