The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, a rare, fatal disease affecting 70k worldwide. We are a nonprofit, donor-supported organization that has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help develop cystic fibrosis therapies that have changed the lives of people with this disease. Nearly every CF medicine available today was made possible because of Foundation support, including Kalydeco, a medicine that Forbes magazine called “The Most Important Drug of 2012.” The Foundation`s pioneering business model has been featured in two Harvard Business School case studies and by publications such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, and Bloomberg Businessweek. Through the Foundation’s efforts, the life expectancy of a child with CF has doubled in the last 30 years. Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation created, funds and accredits a national network of cystic fibrosis care centers that have been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is one of the most efficient organizations of its kind and is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau`s Wise Giving Alliance.
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation supports creative people, effective institutions, and influential networks building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world. MacArthur is placing a few big bets that truly significant progress is possible on some of the world`s most pressing social challenges, including over-incarceration, global climate change, nuclear risk, and significantly increasing financial capital for the social sector. In addition to the MacArthur Fellows Program, the Foundation continues its historic commitments to the role of journalism in a responsible and responsive democracy; the strength and vitality of our headquarters city, Chicago; and generating new knowledge about critical issues.
The Alfred Mann Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and commercializing innovative solutions for significant unmet medical conditions. At the Alfred Mann Foundation, we strive to find solutions for medical problems that often have few other treatments. In our non-profit environment, we are free to take on long-term, high-risk challenges as well as to develop technology that can benefit those who suffer from conditions that have smaller populations of patients and groups who may not receive the attention paid to higher-profile diseases or injuries. Our talented and diverse staff and our world-class research facility allow us to take development from the seed of an idea through prototyping and quality control all the way to manufacturing a device that can be used in a clinical trial.
