Job Description Summary Babson has retained the Executive Search Firm, The Ward Group, to the lead the search efforts. The Chief Marketing Officer leads the effort for building brand awareness, engagement, adoption, and advocacy for the institution and each of its revenue generating programs. S/he serves on the President`s Council leading a cross-functional matrix organization; directly supervises a 30+ person full-service in-house marketing and communications agency comprised of integrated communications, lifecycle marketing account management, creative services, and the Babson Magazine staff. S/he also manages multiple outside agencies.
Essential Responsibilities Build Babson`s brand awareness and reputation
• Lead the development of and direct the implementation of Babson`s brand strategy to build and extend the College`s awareness and reputation.
• Conceptualize and direct comprehensive integrated (e.g. owned, earned, paid) marketing campaigns designed to build brand awareness and engagement that ultimately helps drive existing and new revenue sources for all business units.
• Supervise Institutional Communications for proactive outreach and coordinated messaging to build awareness of the College with opinion leaders (e.g. media, government, business, academia) and to maintain reputation in times of crisis.
• Direct in-house Creative Services and outside agencies to execute on campaigns and ensure the consistent deployment of the brand identity across all media.
• Lead the College`s cross-campus content marketing strategy; provide oversight to user-centric digital marketing platforms including www.babson.edu and related sites (e.g. blogs, social networks, search engines); serve as publisher of the Babson Magazine advising on strategy, content, and dissemination.
• Devise marketing plans that support Babson`s entrance and sustained presence in key markets.
Move constituencies considering Babson from brand consideration to adoption
• Oversee enrollment lead generation and sales support efforts to ensure they align with institutional positioning and the organization is most effectively and efficiently coordinating efforts for maximum returns.
• Provide support to the Center for Career Development (CCD) offices to prepare and help roll out communications that augment corporate relationships.
Foster brand advocacy to drive ambassadorship, volunteerism, and philanthropy
• Ensure that the Babson community, including alumni, is well-aware, well-versed, and well-armed with materials to serve as brand advocates.
• Promote and leverage signature alumni engagement and development activities and campaign that deliver immediate philanthropic support and build pipeline.
• Serve on steering committee for the Babson centennial giving campaign; oversee the development of all marketing materials needed to launch and successfully close a Babson centennial giving campaign including the case for support.
Optimize organizational alignment, infrastructure, and process
• Manage marketing relationships with partner organizations to build reputation through co-branding and related opportunities.
• Measure campaigns against vetted key performance indicators.
• Manage and report on the production and effectiveness of more than 2,500 marketing projects annually.
• Continuously educate campus partners and stakeholders on processes, tools, and results.
• Manage budget of $5.5M.

Minimum Experience • At least 10 years of successful senior level experience leading an organization`s institutional communications and marketing operations
• Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate challenges and develop viable solutions
• Ability to develop a vision and comprehensive strategy and demonstrated experience creating and implementing integrated marketing plans in a collaborative setting
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across the college with both internal and external partners
• Ability to develop, inspire and lead a professional team through the utilization of effective performance management objectives and career development activities
• Ability to develop and deliver informative and inspiring presentations to various stakeholder audiences, including college Trustees
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to oversee the development and adherence to comprehensive departmental budgets
• Ability to establish credibility and confidence with stakeholders
• Demonstrated technological competence with an appreciation and skill to apply technology in departmental operations and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Minimum Level of Education Required Master`s Degree
