We, the Roman Catholic people of the Diocese of Salina, a community of faith united with our bishop, are called to live out the mission of Jesus Christ. Through Baptism we are given the grace of God`s salvation and the individual and collective responsibility to continue Christ`s mission of advancing the Kingdom of God in the human family. We share our living faith by proclaiming the Gospel in word, worship and service. Therefore, we dedicate ourselves as church to be ministers of the Word of God and to extend our heritage of faith, not only among the communities of northwest and north central Kansas, but among all the peoples of the world.
Today` more than 75 million young adults are out of work globally` and three times as many are underemployed. At the same time` 40 percent of employers say a skills shortage is leaving them with entry-level vacancies. Generation is a youth employment nonprofit with a dual mission to empower young people to build thriving` sustainable careers and to provide employers the highly skilled` motivated talent they need. Today` more than 21`000 young adults have graduated from the Generation program` which prepares young adults for careers in nearly 80 cities and 200 locations across eight countries` with five countries in pre-launch. Generation works with 2`300+ employer partners and a wide range of implementation partners and funders. The organization was founded as an independent nonprofit by McKinsey & Company in 2014. Results have been strong` with over 80% of graduates placed in jobs within 3 months of graduation and approximately 70% still employed one year later. Founded in 2002, the Young Women`s Preparatory Network is a nonprofit agency that partners with public school districts across the state of Texas to operate the largest network of all-girls, public, college preparatory schools in the nation. Our schools are located in struggling urban neighborhoods and have proven to be very successful. The schools have won multiple academic achievement awards, including being recognized amongst the top public schools in Texas and the nation. YWPN formed the first public/private partnership with the Dallas Independent School District in August 2004, opening the Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women`s Leadership School, the first all-girls` public school in Texas. Since then, YWPN has opened schools in Austin, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Houston, Lubbock and San Antonio, serving more than 4,200 young women. Ysleta ISD in El Paso will open in 2016. Because of the success of the first school in Dallas, this school model is being replicated throughout the state, as a catalyst for positive educational change.
