Contego Medical, founded in 2005, has developed a family of novel emboli protection devices. The main feature of each device is that the treatment portion (i.e., balloon or stent) is on the same catheter as the embolic protection device, thus coupling the two together. Dedicated devices do not exist for renal intervention, although the majority of physicians say they would use one if it existed.
