The company was founded in 2004 by brothers Dr. Ming Yang and Dr. Eric Yang, and has grown to include offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Taipei, and Silicon Valley. In its first round of funding, in 2012, iTutorGroup raised $15 million in investment capital from QiMing Venture Partners and CyberAgent. In February 2014 iTutorGroup announced a $100 million round of funding led by Alibaba Group alongside, SBI Group, Temasek Holdings and returning investors. In 2015, iTutorGroup closed its series C equity fundraising amounting to approximately $200 million. The investment values iTutorGroup at over $1 billion, and attracted marquee new investors, including GIC, Singapore’s sovereign fund; the Russia-China Investment Fund (RCIF); Goldman Sachs; and Silverlink Capital LP. Existing investor Temasek also participated in this round.
