AOL CTO Ted Cahall Is Leaving The Company
AOL's CTO Ted Cahall is leaving the company, despite what AOL said to the contrary just two weeks ago.
In a note to AOL employees this morning, CEO Tim Armstrong wrote, "Ted has decided to move back into the business side of technology and feels it’s the right time to move on from AOL."
The company was apparently caught off-guard by his departure.
According to Kara Swisher, who has Tim's email, AOL believed Cahall was not leaving when it issued statements saying he was not leaving.
TechCrunch first reported that Cahall would be stepping down two weeks ago.
Says Tim in his note, AOL is "aggressively searching for a new CTO and we believe AOL is a very attractive opportunity for the right candidate."
The company also announced the purchase of StudioNow, a video distribution company for $36.5 million.
It also announced it is bringing ex-Google engineer Jeff Reynar to the company, as we reported previously.
